Celebrating Rural Health Month
Materials informing Veterans in the Guntersville CBOC about the Rural Health Initiative
In anticipation of celebrating Rural Health Month during November, the Jasper HBPC team participated in CBOC Health Fair on October 14th and the Guntersville HBPC team on October 31st. HBPC Team Members were available in both locations to distribute information and answer general questions on enrollment and how the program can assist in keeping veterans in the home as long as possible. Information was also shared regarding the Supportive Homecare Alternatives for Dementia Elders (SHADE) program available in Guntersville and which will be offered in the near future in the Jasper location. This unique program focuses on reducing stress levels of the caregiver.
During the health fair, veterans were able to receive their flu vaccine, have their blood pressure taken, and receive information on VA services available specifically for rural veterans. This was a great opportunity where community resources were shared with the veterans. Further information regarding Guntersville HBPC and the SHADE program can be found on the BVAMC home page during November and on the BVAMC Facebook page.
